Last week I gave a presentation to the staff and students of Cambridge Tutors College an international sixth form college in south London as a precursor to the establishment of a new branch of the London Go Club
although I prepared an introduction to the game, I surmised that it would be unnecessary and I was fairly sure that many of them would be stronger than me so instead I moved to a comparison between a classic game, Fujisawa Shuko v Nie Weiping, and my own efforts at the recent Kido Cup. The lecture was well received even by the now enthusiastic non-players and it was followed up by some games in the library
equipment courtesy of the West London Go Club.
In one of those lucky synergies the College is extremely enthusiastic about the prospects and the club will be starting in September on Thursday afternoons, initially 5-7pm
More to follow but the future agenda includes local outreach, playing other youth teams in the UK and even proposals for the college to host a London Youth Open as early as June 2018.
